As Scotland is part of the UK, the work of other departments is of course pertinent to its relationship with China. The most important of these are:

• The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)

Overall UK-Chinese relations are handled by the Foreign and Commonwealth office. Information of particular interest to Scottish residents include the advice page for travelers and the portal for the work of the UK Embassy and Consulates in China. • The Department for International Development (DFID)

is the part of the UK Government that manages Britain's aid to foreign countries and works to get rid of extreme poverty. The DFID China page offers information on current DFID projects in China, while the DFID blog site contains entries from people working in the field, offering a personal perspective on DFID projects.
